In the world of architectural aluminum, quality seals are clearly defined. But as is well known, the UNE-EN-ISO 12944 standard is a benchmark when it comes to protection against corrosion. This standard has been updated in 2018 and addresses all current needs and provides the requirements for the selection of coating systems in different environments and degrees of surface preparation, as well as the expected durability. Another standard that must be taken into account is the ISO 20340 standard created from the M-501 standard of the Norwegian standards that includes the procedures and requirements for the preparation of the surface and application of protective coatings for elements in contact with the sea, as is the case with Offshore wind towers. The UNE-EN-ISO 12944 standard already integrates ISO 20340, including the system for carrying out tests in a saline mist chamber with combined cycles, as well as the environment or corrosivity class CX, specific for offshore structures.
